The sole of shoes
by Gary Aldersin

All humans know what shoes are but the definition of shoes
is "enclosed footwear". However, not all shoes are enclosed
today. The soles of most shoes are made up of three layers
of materials, the insole, which is directly underneath the
foot, the outsole, which is the part that touches the
ground and the midsole which is in the middle of both. The
material that makes a pair of shoes is as diverse as the
people who wear them. There are dress shoes, play shoes,
work shoes and athletic shoes and depending on what your
doing that day will depend on what kind of shoes you will
be wearing out.

Dress shoes are shoes that probably cost more and are only
worn on special occasions and are made out of a better grad
of materials such as leather or even animal skin such as
snake and alligator. Casual shoes are less expensive and
are maybe worn everyday and usually become that persons
"where ever I go" shoes. Athletic shoes can be the most
comfortable and are special function footwear and many
people call them "sneakers." Athletic shoes come in a
variety of sports wear from running shoes, basketball,
soccer, baseball and track shoes, these shoes are made
specifically for activity and sports.

When you talk about woman's shoes that opens up a whole new
category, women are nuts over shoes and many of them have
closets full of them. Many women could wear a different
pair of shoes for a month and never wear the same pair
twice. (or maybe I'm just speaking for myself). High heels,
sneakers, flip flops, sandals, boots, shoes and more shoes
fill many women's closets and none are ashamed to admit it.
When it comes to shoes, the variety is many and include
specialty shoes such as hiking boots, rubber boots that are
made to go over a persons shoes and wade through water or
snow so their regular shoes don't get wet and ruined, boat
shoes, golf shoes, these have spikes imbedded in the soles
so the wearer doesn't slip and fall.

Work shoes are designed to tolerate heavy wear, protect the
feet, and provide excellent traction. They are typically
fashioned with sturdy leather uppers and non-leather
outsoles. Sometimes work shoes make up part of a uniform,
such as in the case of police, military personnel and
nurses. They are most commonly used for protection in
industrial settings, such as construction and mining.
Protective features of such work shoes may include steel-
tipped toes or ankle guards. Boots are special shoes
designed for snow and rain. They come in different styles
such as rubber boots, used in rain, and snow boots.

The main function of shoes is to protect the human foot.
Shoes that don't fit properly will cause all kinds of
problems such as blisters and soars and are just plain
uncomfortable. We are not born with thick soles, nor have
some other kind of defense for our feet so a cover had to
be made and thank goodness for the invention of the shoe.
If it weren't for shoes I would have to find some other
kind of fashion to fill my closet, like maybe clothes.
